Could paranoid Christians be any more defensive?

Not only are they asking that the Davinci Code's main plot point be made "more ambiguous" regarding Jesus being with a woman; not only have they asked the director to put a
disclaimer in the film to state that it is fiction -- the Vatican has even "appointed a top cardinal to rebut what it dismissed as lies, distortions and errors."

Seriously - between this and the Kansas schoolboard, I'm beginning to think the church is genuinely scared to death because it only controls free speech and government policy!

I don't understand this, really. I thought everybody knew the davinci code was fiction. :/

Well, you know. Some of it's based on fact, some of it's based on fiction. Like a Tom Clancy novel. lolrl lorl

On second thought, maybe not. But similar, anyway.

With this logic, they should also request a disclaimer that states, "THIS IS FICTION," at the beginning of every FoxNews broadcast.
Athankyou.

lol, who's got a link to that pic of the bible with the warning label on the front?
there was a similar stink when scorsese's last temptation of christ was released, which made me wonder about the denseness of some christians who couldn't see the serious spiritual point scorsese was making

yep :icon14:
When I was younger I went to this catholic school for 3 months (thank fuck it was only 3 months) and the local priest "Father Flood" used to come into our assemblies regularly and tell us that Harry Potter was fictional (

), and that none of us should ever try witchcraft as it was evil and "betraying God's trust". Fucking weird time I had there.

The entire church was made to control the masses. Times are changing, and they have nowhere near the amount of power they used to... I see this akin to a clingy parent of a 19-year-old child who is moving out of home -- they just can't let go.
