is max volume attainable (without distortion) considered the primary benchmark for speakers?

i would have thought sound quality (even at lower volumes) is more important.

I bought a cheap $50 pair of 4.1 speakers with a little hesitation, and thought the sound/volume was fine for playing movies, games, etc. I'm glad I didn't pay more because it fit my needs perfectly.

only in car audio subwoofer specs does SPL mean much.

why the fuck would you want to play video games with the nerds and computer hackers when you're living in a dorm with girls :olo:

Well I've used the Viewsonic speakers in the office and my sister uses them in her dorm. Click. They have quite clear audio with a fairly nice base, both versions I have used are the 2.0s not the 2.1s. They are really nice for dorm rooms because they are small, not terribly expensive and good value.
