I was trawling through my brain trying to come up with decent explanations for ye (I work with the stuff every day), but Pho's links are fantastic.

EDIT: Although I will add that most professional equipment uses BNC connectors rather than RCAs.

HDMI or DVI :icon34:
out of the two, i'd go with HDMI. it's getting more support, but doesn't look any better.

Component is the best, then S-Video, then Composite (RCA Jacks).

Yes, the difference between component and s-video is night and day.

HDMI and DVI is amazing. Pure digital signal, no analog.

So, you are saying that, practically speaking, component is not better than S-video or plain old RCA cables? I disagree.

Composite Cable

Component Cable

My TV has a Yellow/White/Red connection which I assume is composite.

Is there any way to get this TV to have s-video or component quality?

Do all TVs support both S-Video and Component cables?

yes, yellow + red + white is audio + compsite rca (the yellow one)

if you run coax, you'll get better quality than the composite RCA

if you're TV doesn't have component or svideo input, all you can really do is get another tv if thats what you want to use.

yes, any new tv worth the money has svideo and component
my sony wega TV is ~3 years old and it has component, svideo, coax, and composite inputs.

This is the TV I've got:

http://www.pricerunner.com/sound-and-vi ... 10/details

It says "S-Video Yes" but there's only the Y/W/R combo at the front and back of the TV, and other reviews say it doesn't have s-video.

Not entirely sure
