I think someone got on my system and deleted some of my files (most importantly, my address book and my backup address book). I'm running Win XP with NTFS partitions and I don't mind paying ~$50 if the program really works well.

Ok this makes no sense. Two programs are both showing that the files weren't deleted. This is the first time I used my PC since the files came up missing....

I mean that the program you linked and a program from cnet both do no show contacts.txt as a partially deleted file.

Then it may have been written over. Text files are tiny and if it was in your main drive, then just browsing the web may have killed it. :(

But...it should still exist on my media drive that hasn't been accessed at all.

Once I get my new phone I'm backing up religously. I never thought I would actually lose my phone permanently.
