Got in a fight last night, and while I was on the floor, I got set on by about 6 people, and someone with a big gold ring cracked me in the jaw and a piece of bone has chipped off and is floating between my jaw and ear. It's about the size of a pea. Should I be worried? It fucking hurts, but I don't want to go to hospital because I only just got out of prison last month and I'm a bit paranoid.

Also, it hurts when I open my mouth, but the pain comes from above my ear, and doesn't seem related to the bit of floating bone. There's no bruising anywhere, and I only feel pain when I press it, or when I have my mouth open.

Probably your muscle is bruised. Sometime it doesnt show. The bone will heal but the chip will keep floating...

For someone your size it sounds like you took a good beating.

My mates said that pretty much, but I don't believe them. I'm worried the bone might cause an infection. I hope saturn or geebs sees this.

So, let me see if I understand...
You have a "bone" floating around inside your "head", and it hurts when you open your "mouth".

i'm not sure you can go to a & e now (needs to have happened in the last 24 hours I think m8) - go see your gp and see what they reckon

It could become infected, it depends if its sharpe and it rips the inside of your mouth to bits or summat. The fact your jaw hurts suggests you have bruised the main tendon? Temporomandibular Joint or the mandible i think..

"Yes", If you "read" my "post", you'll "see" that I'm saying "exactly" that.
You really don't have to put those words in quotes, since they are the actual things I'm referring to.

Yeah, that's a given. I just reckon I'm going to wake up in the morning with a melon sized swelling next to my fucking ear or something..

maybe - thing is I can't think what they'd for you anyway - other than pain killers - maybe minor surgery if they think they need to remove the chip - other than that you cant do fuck with a chiped boned I don't think (chipped my elbow about 6 years - really fucking hurts for such a stupid injury - and all they can do is give you a sling and tell you wait - pain in the arse)

I think that you should definitely have it looked at. No question about it. The hospital doesn't need to know how it happened, make something up or whatever. But you don't want that thing geting lodged in the joint or something.

By the way - what are you doing fighting right after getting out of the pen?
Was it unavoidable? I would think that with your background in martial arts you would tend to avoid situations, being satisfied in the knowledge that if you really wanted to you would kick the person's ass - as opposed to actually doing it....

Fuck knows why it kicked off.. It was a group of pikeys having a wedding party and about 6 of them kicked off with me and two mates while we were at the bar. There were two seperate fights, we won the first one, because it was even numbers, and it broke up no problems. But when we moved to the other side of the pub, some stupid pikey bird started yapping in my mates face and he shoved her away and then a load of them just rushed us. The only thing I remeber is hitting one of them, getting him in a headlock, and then punches just rained on my for a minute or so and then the bouncers came in and it just went wild. Everyone in the pub just started going apeshit. My shirt is absolutely covered in blood, but none of it's mine.
And I'm not Danny Larusso, mate, you can't apply a martial arts philosophy to a pub full of drunk gypsies.

In that scenario I can see why the peaceful philosophy might not have worked as well.

also, if there is significant bruising to the muscles in the area, its possible that an area on the muscle will calcify - not pleasant

had a tiny bit of bone knocked off my jaw ages ago and saw a doctor almost right away - the fight was in the waiting room at a+e, so i didn't have far to go
they gave me pretty much the same treatment as loschunk, and the bit of bone re-attached itself or dissolved away or something.
mine was really near the front of my jaw though, bits of bone floating around near your ear sounds a lot scarier.

I'm surprised he took the time to ask here whether to go get this looked at... :retarded:

Yeah, what a fucking idiot I am. Drive to A&E on a Sunday night, wait for 6 hours in the waiting room with all the drunks, or sit at home and consult the internet before I go to the doctor on monday.
I'm such a fool.

Sounds like the second time it's hit the fan because somebody hit a woman. And i'd get professional medical attention if i were you. Isn't there even a government phone number you can call or something? In Canada theres some telephone service run by nurses 24/7 so you can ask questions before bogging down the hospital rooms.

Or tell them you got your ass kicked by a gang of a dozen pikeys... No one would fault you for that.

That's true. My buddy got attacked at a party last year by about 10 delinquent fucks when he went outside for a smoke, and everyone who knew him was inside at the back of the house, so we had no idea anything had happened till some good-minded people broke it up and dragged him inside with his face all cut to shit. We got him to the hospital and he was fine. The doctors didn't seem to give a shit about how it happened.
