A post-industrial stone-age would be pretty fucked up.

Yes, but it does seem inevitable. It may not be fast but I'll see it. That's for sure. Ah well always wanted to go out in a big apocalypse.

I don't think it'll be the end of the human kind. I'm hoping that the politicians solve things in a civil manner, but I'm not counting on it.
I'm still surprised that hardly anyone in my environment knows about the (upcoming, although it's already this big) oil problem and what consequences it will have (have read about it a couple of years ago and I'm keeping myself informed).

It seems worthwhile to at least keep yourself prepared for not only knowing what the consequences are going to be but also how to deal with them. If oil goes zero, communication will have a serious lag problem. Imagine that, anarchy and then complete silence.

i'm pleased that i'll probably be around to see it.

well I figure, at least I have no problem about posting my picture and having a joke at the same time without being afraid of being called names on the internet (ohnoes!)

In related news, we were watching a CNNNN (satire news program) episode from ~2002 -- they walked around the streets of america and asked where the US should invade next. two responses:
1: "Iran". When asked to point out iran on a map (with country names rearranged), the guy pointed to Australia, labelled "Iran". He was completely serious and continued to back up his choice.
2: "The middle east." "Where, specifically?" "The whole thing, just make a big ol' fuckin' black crater out of it"

:dork:

Do you honestly think that the same results couldn't be obtained in any country in the world?

Yes, I do.

Every single australian teen knows where the US is. Most australian teen know where the middle east is.
Almost all adults know where the middle east is.

Everyone in our Media class (not a 'smart' class, for sure) was either laughing or rolling their eyes at the blatant stupidity of some of the comments made.

I also liked the americans that replied to the question "How many Iraqi civilans do you think should die in the name of democracy." with figures like "As many as it takes -- they're in our way." and "Unlimited."

Yeah, um...I really don't have a defense for that.
Trust me, we all hate American idiots, too. Especially the one in charge. But, every country has its fair share of dolts.
