This isnt a virus.. He wrote a glorified batch script. It might as well be a bash script on OS X

Even if it was a hardcore flaw, isn't that part of the point of having a beta test?

I don't think MSH is even in the beta. I didn't happen to see it poking around my hard drive

Let me know if this thing is safe to install, jeez that's all I need. I'm already having problems with XP and I'm waiting to install Vista.

This thread has stopped me from doing so.

waits of the word to go...........

You don't fix problems installing betas. And if this thread is stopping you, especially with the flawed article, you shouldnt be doing it anyway

Yeah, but hasn't Microsoft tested this new platform before releasing it? I remember when XP was out on Beta I installed it and I had no problems with it what so ever. I actually have that CD around here somewhere.

What do you think of it? would you recommend it? or should I just re-install XP, because I can go either way. If you like Vista and you're not having problems with it then I will give it a go.

Well no, I just did my gaming computer a couple of weeks ago. But this is my work computer and it's a bit more complicated than just a few games. Even though my important documents are saved on the server it's a little daugnting to install a new OS on a computer you rely on to make you money, especially a Beta Version.
dmmh is right I better wait until I hear good things about this OS.

Why would you even bother with something like this for work? Is there something about Vista I don't know about to make it sooo much omg greater than xp that you were going to use it for?

edit:
btw, I've yet to go an hour without it crashing it seems. :)

Is nice to the eyes though, (Nvidia needs to hurry with a damn driver though) any ideas on when they will? Or one I don't know about maybe?

wait a minute. i wasn't talking about installing ANY beta OS on your WORK box. FFS, no one's that stupid.

i was only referring to XP, since you're having some sort of problem with it.

The only reason why I was going to put Vista on my work computer is that my computer was acting up. It was restarting during the XP Start up screen which tells me that there was either something wrong with the OS or the Computer.

So what I did was change the Mother Board and Memory and now everything is working great. It may have had a driver issue or perhaps the memory was bad, don't know, but all is well now. I iwll wait the year to put Vista on my work computer.

I will however put Vista on one of the other computers I have floating around here.

"wrong with the OS"? no chance of that.

glad you got sorted though.

Yeah a problem like that is hard to sort out. When Windows is trying to load and it re-boots then most likely it's a hardware issue but sometimes it could be windows not loading correctly.

I went with the most likely scenario first and that was it.

I was just looking for a reason to try Vista.... hehe
