i prefer MSN to trillian, especially with things like http://apatch.alphalink.com.au/ you can remove all the ads, banners and buttons you don't want.

If you're on Mac AdiumX is a great free program.

Cool, I never knew about that.

And I still prefer miranda to icq/trillian.

I used Trillian once and when I missed a few "hey raw, someone is trolling in GDs" I had to ditch it and go back to the authentic IM apps. Been using them ever since.

Been considering doing that my self lately. Never used Trillian before though.

I knew it did it, but I thought from the way you worded it that it stopped... I gave up on trillian a few months ago, they started adding way too many annoying things I switched to GAIM and never looked back.

If you want an IM client with tons of crapp added GAIM is not for you it's plain and simple no skins or themes, it's just IM

:icon14:

Trillian sucks. I use MSN because every Canadian my age does so it's the easiest way to communicate with them. I also use Miranda to connect to the AIM, Yahoo, and ICQ networks so i can chat with the few friends i have who use that shit.

I switched to trillian ages ago, but have since found it irritating. I switched back to MSN 6.2 (MSN 7 was out at that point) and was using that for quite a while. I moved to MSN 7 as soon as I found this handy little patcher. It allows you to remove all the bullshit "features" from MSN 7, making it less cluttered and more useable. Been using MSN 7 in conjunction with this ever since.

I've been using Trillian for months here at work, and at the house. It's buggy as shit as far as names go (displaying them correctly, changing the name when someone else changes it) The GUI could be a bit better imo, but it requires no 3rd party apps to get it to work they way you need it to, no annoying BS to worry with ect... I have nothing against msn's, (after I tweak it they way I need it to be) but being able to connect to multiple names at once on multiple networks kinda kicks messenger out of the water.

I use Trillian for chatting and email checking, anything else like file transfer, cams or mic I use the app that goes with the messenger. I really do find the MSN and Yahoo windows to be quite large, esp the MSN windows.

Why are you willing to ditch Trillian? Not happy with it?

I've been using Trillian every since it's 0.something release. I've even bought a legit reg key for it :o
