This demo shows the intro to F.E.A.R as well as its first level, and damn does it look cool.

Its looking fantastic, has some wicked effects going on, but waht gets me is the atmosphere the game creates while playing. Its just freaky...

Give it a spin:

(Really, this is one of those FPS's you should keep your eyes on)

Isn't that game out yet? Feels like they've been talking about it forever.

Nah its out this month, at last. It hasn't been that long, when you think about the length some games have taken/are taking.

Looks a bit like "The Ring" meets <insert name of random tactical shooter here>

I'll be buying it I think.

does it have co-op? >:E or is the story too complex and the game too scripted to support such

(read: we didnt feel like it. tough cookies)

Nah no coop :(

But i'm sure it wont stay that way. Doom 3 was impossible to support coop, but look how many coop mods there are now for it It just takes time :(

It should be in from the start though. Its only BIA's expansion pack thats really adding a decent coop.

+ the AI looks pretty awesome... The reason d3 and many other games got so boring so quickly was because of the repetetive nature of the game due to shitty, predictable AI. It looks like the devs actually put a lot of effort into making realistic and challenging AI.

+ supposedly you dont need an ultra high end comp to run the game. Nice feature considering that so many newer games are almost unplayable without a huge upgrade. I got 15 fps in d3.

- slow motion feature has already been done in Max Payne

- scary action game has also been done (doom3)

Looks like an above average FPS.. i might check it out.

A feature has been done before so it should be dropped...? Erm? Max Payne was in third person, how many first person games ahve bullet time and melee combat like this?

As for your "scary game" part, thats retarded. Doom 3 was anything BUT scary, it was laughable. This is not supposed to be a monster closit ridden game, its supposed to mess with your mind in other ways.

And how many game have paralax mapping on their decals :p None, lol!

Doesn't look too bad in-game, they really look like you have just blew half the wall away!

Did I say it should be dropped? Its not an innovative feature IMO.

I thought D3 was pretty scary.. for the first few levels at least, untill the repetition kicked in. Your right, its a different kind of 'scary' the devs are going for in this game, but the idea of making a scary shooter isn't exactly original.

No, im not saying that because something isnt 100% original that its not worth paying any attention to. However, the guy doing the voiceover is going on about how this is a brilliantly innovative and original game.. I didnt really see that from the movie. Which is not to say that the game wont be good, I just honestly dont see anything particularly new.

BTW, have you played Max Payne II? A lot of his flashback sequences, dream sequences, etc, were very creepy and surreal. The sequence in the latter part of the movie reminded me a bit of them.

I've always found FEAR generic. Nothing new, nothing to get excited about.
