The Pentagon, acting under instructions from Vice President Dick Cheney’s office, has tasked the United States Strategic Command (STRATCOM) with drawing up a contingency plan to be employed in response to another 9/11-type terrorist attack on the United States. The plan includes a large-scale air assault on Iran employing both conventional and tactical nuclear weapons. Within Iran there are more than 450 major strategic targets, including numerous suspected nuclear-weapons-program development sites. Many of the targets are hardened or are deep underground and could not be taken out by conventional weapons, hence the nuclear option. As in the case of Iraq, the response is not conditional on Iran actually being involved in the act of terrorism directed against the United States.

Someone on Fox News I believe suggested that the US warn the middle east if we're attacked again that we'll target holy shrines and whatnot.

That sounds like a plan. "We'll destroy Mecca. That'll stop them."

I take it as a forewarning that there will be another attack in the States within the next year, unless Israel starts our war with Iran first, or Iran attacks us and gives us a legitimate reason to go to war (yea right).

You have to look at the source. Most articles on the site aren't written or sourced to InformationClearingHouse.
Although a few are written specifically for the site, most of them are merely reprints of articles from other publications.

This article is from the American Conservative and written by Philip Giraldi, and I don't know much background on either of them.

But the sources of their articles always appear at the very beginning of the article - with a hotlink if the source is online. Here's the original:

Yea, but the essence of the story isn't that there is a plan -- it's that the plan supposedly will actually be implemented as soon as we're ever attacked by a 'terrorist' again.

Don't forget, our nuclear programs have been ramped up again, in order to make newer, smaller, tactical nukes. Remember when Rumsfeld was pushing for them?

This isn't war games -- they've already destroyed one entire country for reasons so unsubstantial that they couldn't tell anyone else. I personally wonder sometimes if there is anything they WOULDN'T do.

I'm pretty sure that this plan won't be implemented as soon as we're attacked by a terrorist again. But I can't say that with 100% certainty.
