What's a good budgetcard (100-150 euro)? Doesn't matter if it's ATI or nVidia. Need to replace this ol' GF2 :icon32:

I don't know the price anymore - but I think the BFG 6800 GT Overclocked is the best video card I've had. And it isn't ridiculously expensive.

truth is that I don't have a clue what's on the market and what's good performance/value. Paying 599 bucks for the latest 900XT or whatever seems a bit pointless :)

thats why the BFG card is the way to go.

turb has the same thing if I am not mistaken. It is also rock solid stable.

I think paying all that extra money for a SLI setup or something is a bit silly too...

6600 for cheap dude :)

I'll take a look at that card. I don't need the latest tech, but something that'll work fine for the next few years.

6800 GT overclocked. Nothing more look at you should.

I'd vote for the 6600 as well.

I've picked up a 256Mb SLi-ready model (XfX brand) because it was cheap and (a bit) future proof.

However if you're sitting on an AGP-slot motherboard, you can't go SLI. I would recommend a 6600 AGP or a 6800 if you can stretch to it. 256Mb is a luxury and I would say 128Mb is sufficient for any agp motherboard.

As for performance, no fauling it. It'll currently run anything I can throw at it at full whack without a problem.

The 6600 is a good card. However im not sure about how it'll play games in a couple of years time or so, If you can strech out for the 6800, go for it.

But it is such an easy choice - 6800 is a BIGGER NUMBER than 6600. That's 200 more. It's a no brainer.

hah, I don't even know if I have PCI-express. Bought the mobo last year (Asus).

So 256 mb is luxury, 128 suffices?

but the 7800 has 1000 more! (and it's also 500 euros at least, motherfukers)

I'd guess you dont have a PCI-Express motherboard.

From what ive read and experienced, there isn't a whole lot of difference with 128mb vs 256mb on cards. May not be true now but when i got my 128mb Raddy 9800 pro the 256mb version of the card ran slower in benchmarks because they used slower ram.

If you're replacing a GF2, you have AGP still. No GF2 PCI-e cards in production that I know of.

128Mb will suffice, IMO. 256Mb at this point in time is all about future proofing. Since you're dealing with an AGP motherboard and midrange budget, future proofing is out of the picture I think, and it would be better to concentrate on performance here and now.

dont get 128. it's not worth it this day and age. in fact getting 256 over 128 is much more critical than the 6600 vs 6800 decision.

I had to replace my computer last year suddenly (the mobo died), so I got an Asus A7N8X-E deluxe with nForce 2. Looking at the box now, guess it has AGP 8x and no PCI-E.

Future proofing is a bit relative since the GF2 is doing fine for a few years now. I don't play the latest games on PC so that's more easy.

ok, 6800 with 256 mb then :D

what about ATI, anything worthy in that price-range?

6600 GT is a winner. Clocks upto 6800 speeds easy
mines running @ 565mhz core and 1040mhz mem

My problem is I can't possibly back my claim that 128Mb is the way to go with any articles or hard facts. My opinions on this one are solely from buying new kit in the past few months.

So your mother. And yours! :D
