I can just picture a huge dome being built over the top of the ice crater, with life support systems inside, and a team of researchers and builders working to make it so more people can come over.

People are making mountains out of molehills over this falling debris stuff IMO.
I'd buy a ticket. I've already got a bagged packed for Mars.

HEY... they'll have you know that with new discoveries in metallergy and chemistry and physics and engineering and linear propulsion, they'll have DOUBLED the distance of their telescoping ladder by this time next year. So shut it.

I don't believe the rovers have yet encountered ice. I could be wrong, though. Do they even have a way to store/transport ice?

Yes, but what happens when you get back to Earth?
Oh yeah, I just remembered that the rovers aren't coming back. So I guess that would be a moot point.

there was a british space program at one point wasn't there? maybe back before everything got privatised and anything sciency was chucked over to industry.
i remember seeing the cg of what looked like the bastard offspring of a nasa shuttle and concorde taking off from woomera (the uk's in a shitty spot for launching or something).
