Freaking Rocked!

Great movie, Micheal Bay is an excellent director. I suggest you go see it. But my god, whats with all the advertisements?

4 out of 4 stars. :icon25:

I watched the previews on tv and am a bit confused. Perhaps you could explain to me why it's called "The Island" and takes place in a big sprawling city?

The title, logo, and dialog make it sound really gay but the action scenes look insane. Why can't anyone make a fucking action movie without inserting lame attempts at comedy anymore?

Im not spoiling it for anyone cause the previews say this.

They are clones of people in the real world, and the Island is not real. The Island is where they supposedly go when they are harvested/killed for parts.

Bitwise, O.M.G. if you have seen Bad Boys II, and the freeway scene, you know Micheal Bay knows how to do action, and the freeway scene in this movie kicks major ass also.

it's completely ripped off:

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/m ... ipoff.html

some excerpts:
Director Michael Bay's new science-fiction blockbuster has drawn comparisons to the '70s classics "Logan's Run" and "Coma." But "The Island" looks so much like 1979's "Clonus," aka "Parts: The Clonus Horror" (available on DVD from Mondo Macabro, $19.95) that its director says he may seek a federal injunction to stop "The Island's" distribution.

"Clonus" is an obscure cheapie with a fascinating premise, best known now because of the ridiculing it took in a "Mystery Science Theater 3000" episode. Viewing one after the other will make you do a double take.
Fiveson said he'd known about the numerous Web sites and message boards that have been pointing out the similarities — even of some specific shots: "Subplots, characterizations, even down to the butterfly getting through the filter! And the chase scenes were almost in the same order and same locale."
I have immense respect for this statement by Fiveson (director of original movie):
Although he's been talking with lawyers, Fiveson said he doesn't know what he wants from "The Island" filmmakers or its studio, DreamWorks. "I'm not in this to make money, frankly." However, he said, "I wouldn't mind if this thing went to a jury trial at all."

The rock fucked... erm... rocked!

Fantastic film, really bought Connery back from the dead for me.

Oh and the music, god damn the music... Owned just as much as the film.

i wont get all pretentious about this -- i love the rock and i own it on DVD. I also liked Bad Boys [the first one] quite a lot. But Michael Bay is not a good director. He isn't an incompetent one, but he's nothing special.
