News from Comic Con. There is a 90 second trailer of Doom coming out soon, and guess what... It confrims... That the film... IS SET ON MARS. Its not an unknown planet, the actors and even the trailer all say its on MARS. Its a shame there wont be any demons, however

Thats a tiny bit better. Its a huge step towars the plot being more like the game now. But still, why was there grass on one of the pics

Its about a virus that turns everybody into monsters just like the game. So, instead of saying "it was demons" they say "its a virus". It was also supposed to be set on a random unknown planet. But now they at least fixed one thing.

That first person part of the movie sounds interesting still...

Do you at least agree with me that this would turn out kickass if they used cg for the entire film (ala final fantasy), it would have a nice noir feel to it... :up

Damn roight. Its the only way a game-to-film could look great. I mean, everything, every single thing, would be perfect, because it doesn't need to be hashed together on a budget.

You know after looking at more and more of the dribble hollyweird puts out (esp. lately with superhero movies) I realllly miss the cg adaptations of films, like final fantasy was. With cg, they can make it look so awesome and retain the original feel of whatever it's being based on. Batman Begins was good, but that seems to be an exception than the rule lately. I even enjoyed the ff movie, maybe the story was a bit sketchy and all, but it was amazingly done, it's a shame it did so poor at the boxoffice which managed to pull square away from projects like that and not too mention a sleugh of other producers.

I don't know... The HellKnight has been confirmed, by name. It wouldn't make sense having that title without some sort of connections to Hell.

Sounds slightly better. Still no Hell but as said before, why no "hell" when there is a hellknight and barron of hell?

Now it makes more sence when Hollenshead said he had been on the set and seen all the arti and structures etc. and how weird it was actually being in a location from the game and being able to touch it and all. Now I'm looking forward to seing this movie =) I hope they make the Hellknigts footsteps resemble the sound of his steps in Doom or Doom II (don't remember if he was in one or both of them or which if only one) and not from D3.

I watched the video and it's Hollenshead who calls it by name. That doesn't mean they actually name it Hellknight in the movie.

the hellknight didnt have footsteps in doom1 and/or 2

Exactly wht I thought. We all heard the news of a doom movie and thought "might work" and then we heard the news about all the changes and straight away hated it... It seems thatn ow, the only thing thats definaty not confirmed as in or not is the whole "Virus" or "hell" thing. Unfortunatly, that IS a large part of the story

However, everything else seems to be spot on... The shots still scream cheese and "ghosts of mars" cheap, but everything else seems to be out of the game.

Even the sounds are supposed to be right out of the game.

So, I guess we will just have to wait for this 90 second trailer and see if its gonna be good. The monsters are what will make this work, and if the zombiesimps and other nasties look like they did in the game, it MAY just turn out better than we all (Myself included) thought...

I cant help but think that MAYBE this isn't a big cover up...

It sounds a lot to me like this:

+Film gets started, and they release info
+Fans read info, it all sucks cock and everybody moans about it
+Film makers+id see that EVERYTHING is shite, and that fans hate it
+Film Makers make a few changes here and there while still in production
+Film now is a lot closer to doom

Because lets face it, the major change is the planet, which could be just "changed" anyways. I bet they dont even say mars in the film
