Well...that depends. I slept in them for about a year before having problems. I was really, really bad about it though. I litterally wore one pair for six months straight. Ended up getting these nasty protein build-ups, cloudy vision, pain, etc. I had a friend who actually couldn't open her eyes because the light caused so much pain. Now that my eye sensativity has gone back to normal its not so bad.

Get yourself a pair that pass a lot of oxygen (I use Night & Days) and use common sense and you will be ok. I typically go a few weeks before taking them out, sooner or later depending on how much I'm around smoke and stuff.

Yea, I think the newer ones that allow a lot of oxygen to pass through aren't too bad when you sleep with them. I don't see it being too bad for the eyes (I was told I could sleep with my new ones in if I really wanted to...)

Yeah some of the new ones are fine. You should talk with your opthomotrist to see what he/she thinks about your eyes. Mine used to have fits with me but she understood I was lazy and helped me find some middle ground.

 Oh. Yeah its no big deal so long as he doesn't rub the shit out of his eyes (but most contact wearers break that habbit).

I highly doubt he has glass contacts and even if he has some cheaper new ones they will be ok. I started off with the one day only contacts and wore them for months.

When I used the Acuvue contacts, I wore them for months at a time too. My eye doctor switched me over to Acuvue Advanced because the regular Acuvue is going to be discontinued, but if I sleep in them my eyes get really dry and painful now. The Acuvue Advance suck in general, because they will get dry and begin to fall out of my eye as the day wears on. I also tried the day & night ones, and after a couple of days I'd wake up and my eyes would be very painful and irritated... I might try going back to the day & night because the new Acuvues aren't working for me.

When my optometrist was explaining me about contatcs, she said that you're not supposed to wear daily contacts for more than 12 hours in one day, otherwise it'll fuck up your eyes and you won't be able to wear contacts no more. Why would you wanna wear then when you sleep anyway? Only takes a second to take em off.

Not at all. He shouldn't do it, but the worst case that will happen is red eye and possible irritation.

The only reason to take off contacts is to let your eyes breathe and rest. Some people can handle more than others, he'll know what his limit is when he wakes up.
