"New" computer

I'm thinking of getting a computer from a friend. he's selling it for 500$Cdn but it's got some nice parts I figure I'd get your opinion.

It's an athlon 2500 (or might be 2800?) Barton, it's got a gig of ram and a Gforce 4 TI I think and various other computer parts I care less about. Sound alright for 500?

Yeah well the gig of ram is nice... That's the reason I think it's alright for that price.

that sounds super high, especially from a friend with an outdatted gf4 for a friend but i dont know how that works to a US money
