Rudy and london

Ok there is no way I'm going to read that 13 page thread this late in the game since 90% of it is probably a bunch of shit anyways.

Has anyone figured wtf the deal is with Rudy Giuliani? Why was he in that country, let alone so close to one of the bombs? I mean some bombs go off in London and all you hear on TV are the phrases "al queda", "terrorist", and "9/11" repeated in every possible permutation but no real reporting.

Yes it does seem a little strange in the circumstances :paranoid: now that you mention it.

Not really. You guys and your conspiracies...

Was he just on a holiday?

"The former mayor is in England on business for his firm Giuliani Partners and to speak before the Local Government Association in Harrowgate."

Thanks Dave but it was sad to read the last paragraph
Giuliani has earned millions since starting his security consulting firm...

I didn't know we had an official resident physicist. You could have been useful in many discussions in the past few weeks. :D

I always wonder about conspiracies. Do people like them so much because there is this desire within all of us to know the truth. Or maybe it's because everyone wants to be one who knew 'the truth' before everyone else knew it. Like being the guy at the water cooler who can say that, when the Giuliani behind 9/11 terrorist plot story breaks, "yeah, I knew that Giuliani dude was behind the whole thing ever since the day london got hit." Or maybe it's because everyone wants to be Mr. Detective, piecing together the facts and turning all coincidences into 'startling revelation'.

Well it's a hobby of mine and I do read most of those threads.

Life, it's all in the mind I suggest :icon1:

BTWwhere is Massive Q?

He's around. I just gave him a book title today (Black holes, information theory and the string theory revolution: the holographic universe).
When you say hobby - what specific aspect of physics? The same stuff we discuss in here?

Yes.

String theory is a pet, but faster than light travel possibilities are now my top priority and interest. You must now imagine time too is relative IMHO.

Did you see the thread with links to 24 short movies here recently?
Filenames like nova_eu_3012c01_mp4_300.mov
Very informative, must search and drop a link here :D

hi W7. I didn't realize you had a serious interest in this area.

That's it, I just figured it out. The terrorists are after Rudy Giuliani!

Hello Massive :D

I don't get around here as much as I'd like these days unfortunately.

Yes, of recent years I have really been trying to get my head around some elementry physics.

I have been looking at string theory, and recently faster than light travel. Got some thinking on this one,

Really mind blowing ideas abound. Keeps one off the streets.

there's been some interest in the UK in Giuliani's zero tolerance crim policy in NYC, hence the local govt thingy. he's pretty popular in the UK actually

For me it's just the way that I see things. If something doesn't seem logical and I can't actually see the proof, I don't believe it. Same reason why I'm an athiest.

Yes, I've known about the relative nature of time for many years. I took about 2 years of physics courses in college, and then jumped back into it when I started teaching a physics unit. I'm most interested in cosmology, astronomy, and the search for a TOE (theory of everything). One thing I've been pretty much completely self-taught on (with the exception of a bit of introduction in college physics) is quantum mechanics. Deeper studies into that, as well as reading a lot of stuff on relativity, sparked my interest into the ideas contained in string theory. My current readings are on string theory.

As for FTL travel possibilities, what are you looking into? Wormholes? We discussed FTL information transmission using quantum mechanics principles, but Briane Greene (in his book Fabric of the Cosmos) explains how you can't send encoded messages using entangled particles/photons..

I'll take a look at those links.
