I did when I was security guard for Procter and Gamble. Nothing like going on 'patrol' in the middle of Detroit armed with only a flashlight and walkie talkie. For you RPG nerds, that means that I was -4 attack, -6 armor...and -10 intelligence ($6.50/hour).

I've worked swing shift, which, IMHO was the worst you could have.

Shift was from 2:00pm to 11:30pm everyday during the summer. Only 1 summer though - summer of my Sophomore year in college. Was working at Bayer Pharmaceutical examining vials of an antibiotic called Ciprofloxacin (sp) to make sure they didn't have fibers, glass particles, fingernails, etc., floating around in them. The shift just blew.

As for graveyard, latest I had to work was as a doorman - that wrapped up at about 3:00 am (after cleaning up the bar, etc.)

Couldn't handle a real graveyard shift though. Sleeping during the day is disgusting and unnatural. heh.

Nope. Friend of mine swears by it though - but he often looks like a wreck.

nope. though i sometimes get the shit shift at my work, closing. we close at 11pm. that means we lock the doors, then we get to stay and do all the closing tasks so i usually don't get out of there until like 11:45ish.

the best time to work is from like 6 in the morning to around 3 or so. it goes by the fastest and then you have the whole rest of the day to do other stuff.

I do "week on, week off" of 8pm to 8am, which is probably why I keep falling down

It’s funny, I was just ‘talking’writing about it in the World’s biggest pizza topic by rep.
I was working for three months with only two other colleagues from 8pm to 8am.
Yes, 12 hours shift at least 6 days a week, we where allowed to keep our Sunday off but
pretty much everyone worked that day too.

We were really well feed though, a real good chef and it was always all you can eat.

The thought thing was that in that region it’s either daytime or nighttime, so working at night and still not seeing the sun after work can get you really depressive.
We had a psy on place for only a 600 workers team.
But it is still one of my greatest life experience.

imo working a night shift is fundamentally unhealthy. Even if you get a regular 8 hours sleep, I think your clock should be aligned with the sun.

ffs, it's summer - you should be getting some sun.

I did it for 10 months once, and I hated every minute. Worked a part-time job on top of it, as well.

I've worked it. Not much of a problem.

When I was in high school I worked at UPS. The shifts were only 4 hours and I got off around 10pm. But sometimes I would work a double shift into the night.

When I was on helpdesk several years ago, I covered a few times for people who worked night shift.

Those two were the closest I ever came to working nights, and that's all the experience I need to know my body just doesn't like it. I'll never work a night shift unless it's either the only job I can get, or they pay me 100 grand a year.

I have to see the sun every day or I'm miserable.
