Worth it?
I've got a $5 gift certificate, so it would cost $10+tax. I'm not sure if it's worth that much, what do you all think?

But it could just be $15 lame, and okay to buy at this price. Or maybe it's really $2 lame, in which case I shouldn't buy it.

Uh...Who knows.

Prey and ET: Quake Wars are using the DooM 3 engine. I don't know what else will.

I had RoE around somewhere for a long time but never really continued playing it after the first 3 levels, but now I've continued and it's good. It's pretty much more of the same Doom3 but now with less monster closets, monsters spawning right behind you and armor-in-the-center-of-the-room-triggering-enemy-spawns situations. So IMO they took the shitty things out.

The super shotty is really sweet. It's sound has so much oomph it's just great to use it.

RoE is 10x the game Doom 3 was. Amazingly, it had some great parts to it. The bosses were grea,t the demon powers, were not.

It fixes a lot of problems doom 3 had, and its a shame THIS wasn't doom 3.

It is a short game, unfortunatly, and the grabber is shite because everybody expected it to be as cool as HL2's and it just isn't.

Now if i say its not half bad you know there must be something there to like ;)

Pick it up, its worth it. Even if its just for a semi decent MP game (The mp maps rock in RoE)

As for engine sales... Yes Doom 3 stinks. It stinks because of the amount of work you gotta do to make a game for it, so people are running away. I'm not finding the workload that taxing TBH.

Prey looks stunning and is leading the pack over Quake 4, and ET:QW looks like its gonna own everything but its too far away to tell, and they REALLY changed a bit for it.

:p

Depends on how you look at it. The grabber is much more of a weapon than HL2's gravity gun is. Well yeah, you could chuck sawblades at monsters with it, but only because the designers put those blades there and that was only in one level.

Grabbing the bolts imps and the other beasts shoot from the air and throwing those back at 'em is pretty fun. And the warping effect is pretty neat as well.

I'll be honest. I used the grabber a couple of times. Once was on the first boss, because i was FORCED TOO. The other time, was picking up a rock just as i got the grabber. WOW, it limits how long i can hold something to 0.000003 nano-seconds.

If they removed the time limit, MAYBE it would be good...

The only weapons I used were the dbs, and the grabber. They dont want you using shit as a shield, and it adds some skill when shooting it, because you dont have much time to aim. Theres really no need to hold things for an infinite ammount of time. Its just a gameplay mechanic is all.

Well, I hadn't read the comments from o'dium down, but I did buy it today. It was under $11 after my $5 off coupon. Haven't played it yet.

What a fucking waste of $11 and my $5 off coupon.

You want to know how many CTF servers there are? I don't mean the in-game browser which only shows like 2, I mean ASE. There's 9. Nine servers.

So I try any gametype and even the ones that show a decent ping in the in-game server browser or ASE still usually end up being 150+. It's laggy as hell.

I'll go play through the SP game and hope it makes up for the multiplayer (it's supposed to be the other way around FFS).

d3 mp has always been that way. 50 ping feels like 200.

It's because half the faggots run servers from their home boxes. The d3 mp is gay anyway, quake 3 is where it's at.

Why?
It's always been made clear by id Software that Doom 3 isn't about the multiplayer. It's a single player game in the first place, not the other way around.

But people all say the SP is the same thing all over again. They bitch about monster closets and small dark hallways. But I thought the MP was supposed to be much improved, and the added CTF mode. Whatever ...
