The PSP screen...

...will scratch if you look at it funny.
Kind of shitty that they couldn't get a harder material for it. Any miniscule piece of debris caught between the cloth and the screen will ding it while cleaning, and I am thinking the simple friction between the screen and the cloth case will do the same.
But I'm still very, very impressed. Anyone tried getting the scratches out with anything (i.e. CD scratch remover?) Don't want to bone it up worse, though. You can't see these little dings when the thing is on at this point.

Bound to happen I guess

They should have thin clear plastic sticky sheets you could lay over the screen to protect till they get bad enough peel and replace!

Even worse, people have said the dust got under the screen for them, somehow @_@
Just get one of those screen protectors, I got one from gametop for $5. It works pretty well, had it on for almost a month and it's still solid, barely any scratches. But it does get dirty, I wipe the entire thing with the blue cloth (btw, just holding the psp for any amount of time gets the entire system dirty with smudges... yuk)... there's also a screen protector that covers the entire surface, the dpad and the buttons, although I haven't looked into it. I think it's called a brando cover or something.
Oh and have you looked at the goodies you can put on yer psp yet?

Try pspmagazines.com there are a few that review the extra addons like screen covers and carying cases... also, get the Logitech hard clam-shell cover, it's excellent and only 20 bucks.

These are the two addons I picked up with it:

The Logi case is the best one you can get right now.

I'm going to add all the nice homebrew apps to my psp tommorow, the emu support is already impressive, and it works on 1.5 firmware

That would help, but won't take care of the problem you face when trying to clean the screen - no matter how soft the cloth is, the thing will get scratched eventually due to minute amounts of dust.

Well I use the psp video 9 app which does everything by itself... it lets you select the encoding rates but the res. is cut into the appropriate one by default. The app works nice, I did a 200mb family guy episode at lowest rates, it came out just under 25mb, and it was suprisingly watchable even at that.

Launcher eh? I have a 1.5, a new xploit came out yesterday which does not require swapping memory sticks, this is what I shall try, probably tommorow. There is even a Doom/Heretic/Duke 3D/Quake 2 port out there, they are wads, and the Q2 one is at 30mb, beats the hell outta me how it's supposed to work, surely it can't be the full game?

So I am assuming you bought 1 gig mem sticks? Where from?

For now I got a 256mb stick, was just under 30$ from toys r us which was closing around my place.
I am looking at a 1gb stick but a bit later down the road when they are in bigger supply and hopefully by then they will drop in price somewhat (seeing as the 2gb sticks will be launching soon and in big supply). I think Sandisk just opened a new manufacturing plant so new sticks should be in large quantities very soon.

bit hard to throw in your pocket isnt it?
the screen/buttons feel...not too solidly built to me. i always feel like im dealing with some fragile thing when im playing the PSP.
anyway, tnf...choose your screen protector wisely. my nephew's screen protector always has air bubbles and is quite obnoxious.

Watch out naughty importers!
Sony wants your PSP back!
A copy of the writ, seen by the Guardian, demands that details of the British purchasers are handed over by the importing companies.
Sony aren't getting a penny of my cash whilst they practise such nasty business.

Britain is traditionally one of the last markets for new consoles.
As it should be.
