:icon33:

I stubbed it hard on my coffee table. So hard that I heard a crack and a pop when it collided. Hurt like fuck for about 5 minutes straight. Now I have a purple blotch on the top of my pinky toe going a bit down the side.

And my toe is a bit swollen.

Geebs... Saturn... give it to me straight... we talking amputation here?

Yup, I broke my toe one time, tripped on a sprinkler head while running, it hurt like hell, especially on the third day after the accident.

The black and blue means that it could be broken. You should ice it. Is it sticking out at a funny angle?

That's perfectly normal. If you're lucky it's just a break which heal very quickly as long as you don't put undue pressure on it for two weeks or so.

If you're unlucky, you may have a subungal hematoma, which means you'll lose a nail and have an ugly ass toe for about nine months with no nail. Then depending on the severity, you'll grow a new nail and probably lose that too.

I'd suggest you go and see a doctor IRL and get it x-rayed; although breaks in any of the actual toes apart from the big toe don't usually require much more than neighbour strapping, 'cos they're not really involved in gait.

If there's any break in the skin at the site, you should definitely get it properly examined by a doctor.

I know, I misspelled it on purpose. I call them 'nah-zees' from an old TV show, not 'knot-zees' like it supposed to be.

Anyways...

It's broken. Hot damn it hurts today. I can barely walk. :(

It's a toe... Broken toes and fingers are the most painless of all.

I hope you get subungal hematomas on all your toes at once so you can understand true anguish.
