first you have to log in with your gamespy id, then you have to fill in a form, then you have to fill in a key, then you're redirected to Fileplanet which tries to install an ActiveX applet and then you have to wait 35 minutes in line.

I FUCKING HATE FILEPLANET.

Me, too. I'll wait until some other site uploads it and fucks fileplanet in the ears.

Aye, fuckign sucks, I did it because i wanted to see how it ran. Some people have been saying the maps are VERY dull and boring (I.e. nothing in them, Qauke 2 style rooms) but get bad frame rates.

I doubt i'll play it online much if at all, but ill buy the game for the SP as long as its not REALLY dire.

You need a file planet CD key, but those are easy to get...

Guys this fucking ROCKS. Its not the BEST looking game ever but its hella fun to play online. Owned the shit out of everybody 7 matches straight and i hadn't even set up my binds or mouse

The performance test video... My god if thats anything like the SP game its just gonna own me... THAT is how you create tension and spook the player out :id:, not with monster closits ;)

I had all needed installed and were already logged in since I get files from there now and then, so now it's just 503 of 858 infront of me on this server and I'll recieve the file ;)

I'm looking too much forward to this game to not download and test it, so I'd go through many obstacles to get it.

Apparently there are lots of mpbetas on DC++, so if you find it just signup and get a key to get it working I suppose.

Thanks o'dium, this is a nice treat.

I already got my key, so if there's a torrent, I don't have to wait 45 minutes to start downloading. Anyone know of a quick one?

It ran ok on my hardware (P4 2.6GHz PC800, 1024MB PC3200 RAM, Radeon 9800), though I turned all down for mp, and it was very smooth.

Very slow game though, but felt good and hits seemed to be where they were supposed to at 60ping at least, but that might be cause of the slow speed. The weapons felt like realistic damage and is a bit much I think for games. Very easy to kill someone, just a few bullets.

Yeah, it chugs a lot here. I'll have to drop the settings down from medium/high. But damn, it's quite fun. The selection of weapons isn't so impressive, and it seems pretty much everyone uses the SMG or assault rifle. Also, do the grenades do any damage? I keep throwing this one that makes a large wave type visual and never kills anyone even if thrown into a crowd. lol

Well the problem with realistic damage is it really does turn into a game of who saw who first.

If you dont see somebody else before they see you, they get a chance to kill you and it takes a split second to do that. So instead of dueling between a machinegun and shotgun in quake 3, where it could go on for a while, it just becomes a near instant kill. Some find that more dull, i find that more fun, although i was brought up on action Q2.

Sure, it is fun...as long as you always have :q3: installed to turn to when you get tired of instant deaths. :)

Maybe this would improve my framerate:

Can you say overpriced? lol

I wouldn't get another 256meg card. If your on a decent one now wait for the new ones, then pick either a great one or a greater one. The 68's will drop in price by then surely.

You realize that's the GeForce 7800GTX, right? As in, the product to be announced next week. Plus, 512MB cards are a joke for anything on the market now. It's like when they came out with the Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB and it was more expensive and slower than a 128MB 9800 Pro.

I don't think they're even producing 512MB cards in volume yet. At least not nVidia.

I need a 512meg card though, trust me ;) This 256meg card and gig of ram just wont cut it.

Say goodbye to $500 for a mid-range card then. :p

I'm already on a 68 GT, and this card rocks, and it runs fine for me. But honestly, when your making the stuff i'm making, it DOES tend to bog down a bit from ime to time (Per Pixel Lighting with 1024x1024 textures x4 per surface and 6k to 12k poly models, complete wit hfragment programs and render to texture reflections, woo!)

It sounds like your thinking is that the extra memory is the only bottleneck. I'm sure the extra 8 pixel pipelines or 250MHz faster RAM (DDR 1200MHz) would sure help a hell of a lot.

I don't think 512MB cards of the new generation will be out any time soon. Maybe late this year.

Extra memory helps when you have this many textures, trust me. Pipelines only mean how much data it can shift so yes, that is also an important factor. But less memory = more swapping and thats baadadaaadadddaaaaboom.

!!!
Go to Options > Performance > Test Settings

It shows you a number of scenes from the game to test your video card settings, but damn the SP game looks good fun. :D

I averaged 28fps on medium detail all around though. :(
