The new model is based on the Lancer Evolution VIII MR FQ320 and was developed in the UK by Mitsubishi Motors UK’s motor sports department, in association with tuning specialists Rampage, Owen Developments and Flow Race Engines. Together, they modified the Lancer’s legendary 2.0-litre turbocharged engine so that it now produces a mighty 405 bhp and 355 lb-ft of torque.

This is enough to propel the FQ400 from 0-60 mph in an incredible 3.5 seconds and on to a top speed in excess of 175 mph. It is a performance that even some of the world’s most exotic supercars struggle to match. The £330,000 Porsche Carrera GT, for example, requires 3.9 seconds to sprint from 0-62 mph, while the ultra-exclusive Pagani Zonda needs 3.7 seconds. The BMW M3 – hitherto the benchmark ‘everyday supercar’ – takes 5.3 seconds to achieve the same feat.

If he does he is retarded because that car is sold by Mitsu dealers under warranty which makes it no more rice than any other import.

Seems to spool up just fine if it can hit 60 in 3.5 seconds.

I saw that car on Top Gear, they were complaining about the turbo spool time. They even did a roll in 4th gear from 50km/h or something against an old for escort or something, and that car won lol.

Why the hell would they be going 31 mph in 4th? You should be be in first if your going that slow.

I saw the same episode he's talking about. The engine is an asthmatic dog until the turbo spools up, and there was a significant amount of turbo lag. Once there, however, it's a rip-snorting beast. They had a BTC driver in a Lambo that could not shake the EVO off his tail, and in fact he spun trying to do so.
That tall dude, the host of Top Gear, was raving about the car's drivability once you got it launched, but that it was more than a bit tricky to master the incredibly heavy clutch.
Other than the reliability issues that all turbocharged engines have, that's a mean car and I'd love to have one.

And 31MPH in 4th is retarded. I'd be in second in my car, shift into 3rd if cruising at that speed.

It's a very valid way to test the engine's performance. A bit extreme to prove a point, but valid nonetheless.
