Google 3D maps

I had a similar idea (Faster, easier, but less accurate) a few years ago. It was to take satellite photos from different orbital paths at the same time of day in the same conditions and use those images to extract the 3D information much like a cut-out (similar to what was available for the twin towers, understand now?)

What it sounds like Google is doing is merely using lasers to measure generic building dimension, and most buildings will just be six sided polygons.

Eventually when they get that document scanning system going (where they scan entire libraries and city buildings) they'll have the real floor plans for buildings available, if that's legal. They could use the dimensions to create accurate buildings.

BTW, that flash of light you saw was from the electromagnetic burst that happened when I flexed my tricep just now. Yes, it happened worldwide.

I wonder if altitude data will be available. So you can see if roads rise up or down.

Maybe they can map the bumps in my road and fix the bastards.

but will the elevation data be integrated into their 3d map feature?

You mean where you could maybe click on a certain spot and it would give info on elevation etc?

yea - either that or at least be able to visualize the hills etc.

so for example if you're planning a bicycle route, you could plan according to steepness of roads, etc.

It's called Keyhole. It's not totally accurate, but gets the job done like Kracus in a gay bar.

I was wondering why my bad joke detector was a smoking pile of rubble this morning. Now it seems I've found the culprit. :icon33:
