A lot of potential applications for this thing, besides picking up chicks. The Mobile Infantry is not far off.

				I'm interested in what sort of power source it has. That's one of the big problems with suits/exoskeletons like this, regular batteries are large and heavy.

				I'm interested in how high I can jump with one of those mofos.

				That is pretty cool. I wonder if it's painful, having the suit lift on your arms and such.

				These have been in development on and off since the 60s.

I don't see a large battery anywhere on the suit.

				Hence my question. Don't see any cables, either.

You could make cushions for the areas that are in contact with the body. Like a helmet. I think it'd be cool as fuck to rob a bank with a suit like that.

I wouldn't imagine very high at all. Seems to me that the actuators would have to move VERY quickly to accomplish a high jump, and when you're trying to give a large boost in lifting power, you wouldn't necessarily design it that way. I could be wrong, though.

				Yeah that's what I'd like to see though, a machine that makes you stronger AND faster.

Sure, and by leaving the building the batteries fail......
stuck...

Yeah too bad they can't make a machine to make you lighter and less obnoxious.

				"It can also move on its own accord, enabling it to help elderly or handicapped people walk, developers said."
Ahaha, I read that and thought of Wallace and Gromit.

				I can picture a soldier in a suite like this with a huge ass shield in front to protect him from incomming fire and a huge ass shoulder mounted multi use gun.
FUN!!!!!

				And for shits and giggle let's give him a thousand pound lead pipe to use to destroy things for fun that he can wield one handed with that suit. OWNAGE.

				I saw the prototype for this thing a few years ago. Pretty much the same thing except they made this version smaller and there aren't a huge mess of wires running all over the place.
It is not very fast so you definitely won't be able to jump very high if at all (due to the weight), it basically helps a person lift things that would normally be relatively heavy.

i haven't been at school for almost 5 days now, so the lack of learning requires that i flex my brain muscles with this:
if the suit enhances your jump/strength by 1.5 times (for example, it's probably lower though)
on a 70kg person:
F
unaided = 200 N = ma = 70a
a
unaided = 200/70 = 2.86 m/s upward
add on the 15kg of machine:
F
aided = (200*1.5) N = (70+15)a
a
aided = (200*1.5)/(70+15) = 300/85 = 3.53 m/s upward
the heights of your jumps become: (x is displacement/height)
formula: v^2 = u^2 + 2ax
(v = final velocity = 0; u = initial = acceleration above; a = gravitational acceleration = 9.8 m/s downward)
therefore: x = -u^2/(2a) = -u^2/(2×-9.8) = u^2/19.6
x
unaided = (2.86)^2/19.6 = 0.42  meters or 1.37 feet.
x
aided = (3.53)^2/19.6 = 0.64 meters or 2.09 feet.
so there you go
