Are there still any Dream Theater fans around here?

Have you heard the new Octavarium album? What do you people think of it? I have heard it only once so it's a bit early to form a real opinion. One thing that stood out to me though was the very Muse like sound of the song Never Enough. Could've been Muse themselves playing it.

I really like the album. It's true what Eraser says, some songs have some definate Muse influences in them. But I disagree with the statement that "Muse could've played it themselves"... technically Dream Theater is so much better than Muse that I actually like DT's interpretation of the Muse sound better than the original.

yah yah I didn't mean that literally. It's just that the style is so reminiscent of Muse that in basic form it could be a Muse song.

I got Octavarium the morning it came out, got back and listened to it straight away.

In all honesty I didn't really like it that well, it didn't seem to be like their old stuff. First thing that came into comparison was what Metallica did with St Anger

It's quite different indeed, but I think a comparison to Metallica's failure is a bit harsh.

I haven't had a chance to hear it yet. Might do a little shopping this weekend and pick it up.

Those that got the album, listen to The Root of all Evil at 4:50 to about 5:20. Listen to it carefully, then listen to This Dying Soul from the Train of Thought album, at 3:00.

Heh. No they took part of This Dying Soul and put it in The Root of All Evil. Nicely done.
