combining mp3s (that've been split when downloaded)

this is happening when aquiring stuff from a newsgroup. x news has developed an annoying habit of splitting some of my files up when it downloads them, so for example I have a folder full of these:

02_Beyond The Nothingness.mp3
02_Beyond The Nothingness_0.mp3

and

04_After The Sepulture.mp3
04_After The Sepulture_0.mp3

they don't come with a PAR file and the track is simply split down the middle (not techincally the middle, but the _0 file takes off exactly where the original ended). What's the best way to recombine it? or to stop xnews doing this in the first place?

naturally, i already own the songs in question, i just want to download them in a new format rather than ripping them. :)

o.O all that did was create a 270kb .mp3 file unreadable in my media player?

meh. You could always just import tem in http://audacity.sf.net and merge.

might have to give that a try. :(

I'm waiting till it's downloaded the lot to see if it's clever and combines everything together at the end, but i doubt it.

EDIT: it's finished, and no it hasn't combined them :(

I use that Wave Editor w/ LAME plugin which comes with Nero for stuff like that.
Quick & Basic but does the job. :icon26:

fuck it, there's a big nasty gap in the song where a bit of data's been lost.

Thanks anyway

I downloaded on album once where the entire fucking album was just one mp3 file.

that's nice if it's a mix-album, with mp3 you'd still get those unwanted gaps between songs. There was a Gorillasoft plugin for Winamp that would allow you to use a .cue file to jump to the different songs in that big mp3 file.

Just had the mp3 file and the album art.
Wasn't a mix mp3 either like a various artist album.
