Enviro's vs the U.S. : Whales + Sonar = Bad?

Obviously.
Everytime a nation does those mass sonar tests pods and pods of whales go apeshite and end up beaching themselves trying to escape.
Hell, it happened in Spain last year or so. They Spanish navy did some sweeping sonar tests and like 50 whales jumped up onto the land shortly after.
Considering it's been proven already that marine life generally use sonar as one of it's main forms of sensory perception, it wouldn't seem so distant to suggest that synthetically generated sonar would cause damage or distress to them.

Maybe it makes the whales think that the nearest landmass is a giant whale hottie and they're all trying to bang her. They end up on the beach going "WTF?!?! This isn't whale poon!"

well.. seriously: i don't think the military cares.
maybe in smaller countries protesters could acchieve something. but not against the allmighty US Army.
furthermore the whale-wing of greenpeace and co. is not really accepted in the public because they come off as hippies while the other fractions ( climate, nuclear, fishing ) are generally accepted... mostly because they all apply the overused term of 'sustainability'. :icon29:

Seriously though, if that's true then I've lost even more respect for the US military heads than I already have, which is quite a large amount.
