Who here will be playing Battlefield 2?

Myself and a couple buddies are going to play this game, I'm thinking of organizing a group of people to play with on a regular basis. Not a clan, as it would have no structure or hard commitments. Just a group of like minded people that want to be able to use team tactics in online play.
Having a q3w group would be kinda cool.

Depends if my PC will be able to handle it

. If it does, I would be interested in joining up with some q3w members for a laugh.

Okay but I'm the co-leader.

I doubt I'll buy it. I never played the others, but it doesn't seem like my "cup of tea."
I don't see the appeal of having such a huge environment with so few people. Maybe if it had over 64 people it would work...but nobody's gonna host that kind of bandwidth/server power if a game is ever released that could actually work with that.

BF1 has plenty of 40+ servers and some 64player servers too. The high load/bandwith servers are usually the official ea servers or those hosted by game hosting companies. I prefer 32 anyway, any bigger and it turns into a madhouse.

I hope its not true but the rumour I heard was that the server software would have limited fuctionality unless it was running on a rented EA gameserver.
This BF2 video is awesome

i doubt it..unless you are talking about the ranking system. Only official servers will be connected to the ranking system..for obvious abuse reasons.

Hopefully the demo will be out soon, so I can try it out and see if I need to get myself a 6800GT in time for the real game.

EA is always struggling to get as many buyers as possible for their games... i bet that BF2 is VERY optimized and they have made sure that even older pc's can run it.
If you got a geforce4/ati 9800pro or later and atleast 512 ram i bet you can run it on lowest and 16 player servers flawless.

anyone know if it's supporting anything besides xp?
got a win2k partition for games that's never given me any grief. don't really fancy replacing it with something flakier than a pre-menstrual psychology student.
