Botposts can still be done by human registered accounts.

Can you not put a recaptcha alongside each new topic / reply route for account less than 1 month old or something to stop them that way?

perhaps.
we've had sleeper accounts suddenly starting to spam as well so that wouldn't change much.
I'd rather have them make themselves known asap anyway

I turned off registration almost a week ago. It's all been sleeper accounts since then.
