"We're confident that DNF will be one of the greatest, if not the greatest, game of 1998. And this confidence is not misplaced." - Scott Miller, 1997
"Duke Nukem Forever is a 1999 game and we think that timeframe matches very well with what we have planned for the game." - George Broussard, 1998
"Trust us, Duke Nukem Forever will rock when it comes out next year." - Joe Siegler, 1999
"When it's done in 2001." - 2000 Christmas card
"DNF will come out before Unreal 2." - George Broussard, 2001
"If DNF is not out in 2001, something's very wrong." - George Broussard, 2001
"DNF will come out before Doom 3." - George Broussard, 2002

Broussard felt it was "too premature" to submit DNF to E3 this year.

I've never really followed this game. What is the reason for all the delays? Have they revamped the engine many times over or something?

Ut2007 was shown, a game that is gonna be out at the end of 2006, the earliest.
So what does that say? is dnf coming out in 2007-2008?

Well, according to them, this will be the greatest fps ever. Surpasing Doom 3/HL2/Far Cry/etc. It's now using the Unreal engine 3, this is like the 4th engine they switched the game from.
The are promising a multitude of interactions. For instance if you spot a microwave, you can put shit inside of it and cook food, or blow something up. Find a rat and nuke it. :icon31:
I think it might be a fun game but damn it was announced in 1997. If it comes out in 2007 that's 10 fucking years... who the hell is paying these peoples salaries?

I can't believe people are still waiting for this game. I gave it up as vaporware years ago.

The dnf mods over at the 3drealms forums are so anal... if you even try as to whisper something about the delays, or making fun of it, they lock/delete/ban people

>>1) Can you tell us what Video Card you guys are currently running it on? If not can you tell us if it is a new video card?
9800 Pro's, some 6800GT's and some 6800 Ultra's.
>>2) Have you completed at least 70% of the models?
This is hard to say, as a model can be anything from a prop (like a chair, microwave, etc) to the tons and tons of models that go into the levels as architecture to flesh out a level.
A ton is done. We have hundreds of props that you can place in the world, and the artists just continue to pump stuff out.
>>3) Are a majority of your models textured?
We complete them as they go in, so the ones that are done, are in.
>>4) Have all the weapons been programed in and are usable in-game right now?
Yes. In, with animations, sound pass, and final textures. We'll probably add a couple more as we go, and there are some whacky ideas we want to explore, but all the base guns are in and we could ship with what we have.

the buzz word over there is interactivity. "OMG in duke you can open doors OMFG THATS AWESOME, it's so fucking INTERACTIVE"

the other funny thing is that at one point duke was in the running with daikatana, but even that pile of shit was released and flopped more than 5 years ago.

I'm beginning to think this is just one big enormous joke. I mean look at the title. It's not "Duke Nuken 2006" or "Duke Nuken 2", it's "Duke Nuken
Forever", and it always has been.
