SSD question

Hello my technically gifted friends, a question for you:

I attempted to build my new PC myself (regretting it already) and something's puzzling the shit out of me. To be specific; my Plextor M8Pe(G) - 256GB SSD thingie is not recognized by my MSI Z170 M7 motherboard. I'm pretty sure i plugged that fucker in correctly, but it's not being seen by either the BIOS or windows.

Anyone have any idea what it could be other than a broken device (would seem odd, was being pretty careful)?

Silly question but you have 2 cable connected to it?
I ask because the first time I installed and SSD I only connected the 'data' (SATA) and it wouldn't work. I was thinking like USB drives I guess.

Secondly, are you able to try in another PC? Still have your old one about?

Issue solved!
I'm totally ashamed to admit it, but it turned out to be plugged in incorrectly :D

This is one of those newfangled ones that doesn't need cables btw. It's also insanely fast, my PC boots windows in about 5-7 seconds now. Yays.

No cables? I haven't heard of them. Any links to the product?

It's a mini-SATA interface. Plugs directly into a port on the motherboard.
