Not that I have listened to any of his music in a long time but I love his stuff.

am listening to Pli Selon Pli now. seems appropriate, given it's a birth-to-death 'portrait' of Mallarmé

I'm listening to Répons. Although it uses a tone row, it was written well past Boulez’s hardcore serialist phase, and almost looks backwards in form as it is presented as an updated concerto grosso.

Speaking of French writers, have you ever read any Robbe-Grillet? La Jalousie is one of my all time fave books. (an English translation)

nope. haven't read much french literature to be honest, though i did come to Rene Char through Boulez - full of lots of arresting images
