So yeah, id Software has been drifting away from the studio we've all loved before, but ZeniMax drove the last nail in the coffin by turning
id Software into a brand that can be applied to anything they see fit:

They're opening a new studio in Germany and are calling it.... id Software Germany.

I stopped being the id fanboi after Carmack left, it was probably long overdue. Still a great history though.
