I assume the lit up section in the center is from the light the sky emits? I'd change that color to be a tad more blueish and less yellow. The sky looks like a mid-day spring sky while the light it emits looks more like it's taken right before sunset (in terms of color).

Ah, good point. The sky and lightning are still very temporary. I’ll certainly remember that later on. Spent my lunchtime making some Chinese lanterns to fill up the overhead space.

My lunchtime doodling continues. The Old China Town map is evolving into a CTF level. I’ve just about got the base area finished now. Still a little bit of tweaking to the terrain mesh is needed, to allow room for a jump pad at each end of the raised area. It’s a bit tight atm.

Here's something I've been working on and off for the last couple of years hoping to have it finished by the end of the year.

Little bit of an update.
Both sides of the map are done, I’m happy with the middle ground now.
My biggest issues have been compiling a bot navigation file. I need to build a proper bot only map to compile a .aas I made a quick version to test. -fixaas is weird. Sometimes it works fine, sometimes it borks the lightmap, sometimes you need to hex edit the aas
I still haven’t tried Hipshot’s trees...

Looks nice. One thing that immediately struck me as odd, though, is the awning overhanging on the chains. The pic is a bit low res and dark, but it looks like the (metal) beam attached to the chains is floating out of itself. There's no structural support to keep it in that position (assuming the green/white striped material is cloth). You'd need metal beams on the sides as well. It might also look more era appropriate if those parts are made out of wood rather than metal.

Just a small nit pick, but many small details like these do eventually add up to have a big impact.

@flipout

Is that the same map that you had sent to me years back? I can't wait to see it.

Thanks for the comments guys.

@Pat Howard yeah I plan on releasing all the assets when I released the map.

@v1l3 yeah it's the same one. still pretty much the same layout as back then.

Stuck for ideas so started working on a remake of Retinal's quake 2 map "q2duel5" aka "Mortal Coil". Not sure at this stage if I'll finish it. It's not an import and re-scale, but a build of every brush from the ground up like I did with ZTN's the rage. Still think this Q2 texture set is one of the best and easiest to work with out there. Sky is my own concoction.

Fora.

Looks amazing! When do you think it will be finished? BTW, your latest map (tokay) is not yet in lvlworld.
