Which one did you watch?
The old one or the new one?

ahhh that sucks :(

but if you can get it in a good quality format i suggest you give it a look, its not as good as a lot of the films around but the film imo is worth a watch at the very least

didnt know there was an old one, tbh i never heard of this one, the only reason why i grabbed it was because the women in the vid shop suggested it to me

It's not bad. Meryl Streep is pretty awesome as the guy's dominating mother. Totally implausible premise though.

It's an entertaining film, mostly because Denzel and Meryl can really really act.

What bothered me is that at one point that old recluse guy says something along the lines of "why would they implant shit in his brain when simple hypnosis/whatever can achieve the same effect?" I found that the film never answered that question. The only reason it had to be some physical metal shit in his head is so the director could throw in some cliché violence-/gore-shock scenes.

And howcome the president (or was he VP? i forget) had the willpower to overcome his brainwashing at the end, in order to miss his step and then dance with streep to get them both shot ... but he couldn't snap out of it earlier when he was forced to drown Jon Voigt (which you'd think would be a lot rougher on his mind & conscience)??

It was a fun movie, but not a smart one.

p.s. spoilers.
