Online retailer Amazon has launched a service that stores free digital versions of CDs bought via its store.
AutoRip, which is only available in the US, will automatically keep a digital copy of eligible CDs in a customer's cloud storage account.
Customers will be able to access the music via Amazon's Cloud Player on the web or via tablet and smartphone apps.
Amazon has drawn up a catalogue of 50,000 CDs that are eligible for AutoRip.

Amazon US doesn't verify your billing address mind. Not sure i'd wanna risk it if it's stored on a cloud but I've acquired plenty of digital media by using the McDonalds address in Houston to verify my location
You'll also have to find another way to obtain your physical copy
, tis a good idea though

Hopefully this will happen in the UK too. I think it is an excellent idea.

flac isn't necessarily practical for streaming.
i looked at the amazon cloud player last night and it seemed like you can download mp3 copies from the player. so really they're giving you the mp3s and just making you go to their cloud player to dl them.
