I've been absent once or twice for long periods but I've never been able to fully stop checking in, at the very least.

I think extended absences are different than making a huge fanfare about quitting, and then later coming back anyway. I'm sure most of us have had periods of months or years where we didn't check in frequently, or post a lot. Except MKJ, I think his entire life essence goes into Q3W [which explains why he's so skinny].
