http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/16/rumor ... ue-of-xbo/The new console's name, for instance, will be simply "Xbox," with no numerical modifiers to speak of, according to the magazine. It'll supposedly ship with a quad-core processor and eight gigs of ram, run Blu-Ray discs and will eventually support some form of head-mounted augmented reality device, in addition to a next-generation Kinect.

Re: New Xbox
I'm curious to hear what the dev's have to say about the increase in memory. I bet that is the one thing that will make the biggest change, aside from the graphical hardware.

Re: New Xbox
Any console worth keeping the next 5 - 10 years should have a minimum of 32 GB of RAM (in next 5 - 10 years 32 GB will seem paultry anyways).
Why is anyone excited about 8 GB?

Re: New Xbox
Because the current Xbox has 512meg and developers doing an astounding job.
32gig of RAM is overkill by some way for sure, especially in a closed system with an OS that will be nowhere near as complicated as Windows. In fact it'll probably use Windows RT or something like that.
Anyway, high end PCs currently come with 8gig so it seems a very reasonable amount to have to me.

I think 12-16 should be the current high-end standard. The best part about having that much is turning off your page file.Don Carlos wrote:Because the current Xbox has 512meg and developers doing an astounding job.

The amount of video ram will be more important though. I wonder if they will allow for the system to run at 4K in the future.
Re: New Xbox
It will probably have some iteration of Windows 8.

Re: New Xbox
I wonder if this next generation will "RROD" every year like the early versions of the 360 did. I think I'm on my 4th 360 at this point.

Re: New Xbox
yep bought my first 360 from some shady guy in a mall food court for $150.
Worked fine for a month. Then RROD.
Popped the thing open to find that the moron literally coated the everything with thermal paste.
Spent a few hours to get it cleaned up and replaced the X clamps that hold the heatsink with screws and washers.
Ran like new again. Then I said screw it cause the only games I enjoy playing are either on the PC or PS3 (just the Metal Gear Solid series). Sold the 360 for $250.

Re: New Xbox
Any idea on a release date (year)?
Re: New Xbox
It's gonna be at E3 next year so I'd expect it to be released either around Nov next year or early spring 2014.

Also it will be on the same type of purchase scheme as the latest Xbox where by you pay a deposits then a little every month if you don't wanna spunk up the $600 or so bucks at once
