Only 400? It wouldn't surprise me if there's 400 trees cut down per minute around the world.

nasa did say they will replant 4 trees for everyone cut down, so i guess that's a plus

but still, they should have left the shuttle in houston or the fucking moon

The fly by was pretty cool. Wasn't expecting to see a goddamn space shuttle cruising by that morning when I was being irritated at having to walk around the building because my badge wasn't letting me into the employee entrance.

Some dude was jumping up and down and squeeling like a girl "ITS HERE OMG ITS HERE!". I was like "....the fuck is he trippin on?" Turn around and oh damn there's a freakin shuttle??

The shuttle program has been around for as long as I can remember and was a massive inspiration to me as a kid to get into science.

Now...we have science being shit on by know-nothings and idiots like xer0s have a vote.

We have really slipped as a species.

The first thing I ever bought using my own money that I had saved as a kid was this big truck that carried the Columbia space shuttle on the back. I thought it was the coolest thing I had ever seen.
Nowadays, I find the Mars rovers incredibly fascinating. I even regularly visit NASA's astronomy picture of the day and I even play Kerbal Space Program. It's really a sad thought to think humanity as a whole will lose interest in such things.

On the other hand, there are still sub-30-year-olds like me that have a genuine interest in science and space (aviation). As long as there are those that are inspired enough to actually do something in that field, not all is lost. Also, the advent of commercial space flight is very exciting and it makes space flight something that is accessible for people outside of organizations like NASA or ESA, which may bring it closer to people than it ever was.

Why do they need to cut down 400 trees to move it; I thought it could fly?
