Canada has closed its embassy in Iran and will expel all remaining Iranian diplomats in Canada within five days, Foreign Minister John Baird said today, denouncing Tehran as the biggest threat to global security.
"Diplomatic relations between Canada and Iran have been suspended," Baird said.
He cited Iran's nuclear program, its hostility toward Israel and Iranian military assistance to the government of President Bashar al-Assad of Syria, which is locked in civil war with rebels. He also said Iran was a state sponsor of terrorism.
wtf is going on with Canada? i used to think it was one of the world's better countries, but this is some straight-up dicksuckery

Our government is run by neo-con wannabes. Try to keep up.
Also I'm pretty sure Stephen Harper believes (for real ) that the rapture is coming soon.

This is the face Canada currently has representing our foreign relations: an angry child.
It's really not hard to find an image of this douchebag looking like...well...a douchebag.

Nice timing, just as the Obama administration told the Israelis 'not only will we not support you if you go ahead with this attack, we are going to tell your enemy about your plans and publicly denounce it as immoral' and at the same time politely asking Iran to not attack US targets in the event of an Israeli attack. Which caused the Israelis to radically alter their tone as of last week - ye gods, Obama handled that extremely well, i would have never thought he had the balls for that, in election season no less.
Can't really blame the Canadians for missing it, neocons have never been good at facts and reality and this particular piece of news was buried pretty deep. Ah well eh?

Iran has every right to attack US targets as doing so would be in retaliation to the acts of war already committed by the US and Israel, including but not limited to cyber-warfare attacks, assassinations, air space and territorial waters violations, and state-sponsored acts of terrorism.
And if you really think the US will stand down when Israel calls on them to help attack Iran, you're far more naive than I give you credit for
If anybody else does to America what we’re doing to Iran right now, our national security types would describe it as open warfare.
Heck, we have a recent U.S. government national cyber security strategy document that says what we’re now doing to Iran — if done to us — would constitute an act of war worthy of a commensurate kinetic response on our part (the brilliant quote: “‘If you shut down our power grid, maybe we will put a missile down one of your smokestacks,’ unnamed official says”).

The double standards are mind-boggling to say the least.
But one this is clear with President Obama: between this and his personally-approved targeted-assassination campaigns, his vigorous embrace of pre-emptive wars is complete.

Iran has indeed acted with extreme restraint the last few years with all the Israeli / American / EU agression and immense pressure regarding their nuclear program. They have to, they don't want a war. God knows how that would turn out, they'd probably lose but they're in a position to make things incredibly complicated, even cause a new worldwide recession. Nobody in their right mind wants that, unfortunately especially in Israel there's a few people in power who do. Thank fuck there's even more people in slightly less high places that think this is a ridiculously stupid plan, and those people seem to have won the debate for now.
Do i really think the US will stand down if Israel calls on them to help attack Iran? Yes, i do - what do you think Israel has been trying to do for the last 2 years or so? There won't be an attack; Israel can't do it alone and the US is not only unwilling to do their dirty work this time, it's now discreetly made clear they want nothing to do with it.
I predict more sanctions, then a thaw come november. Hell, maybe Obama will even go to Iran in his next term the same way Nixon went to China, that would be something huh?

Spent 5 minutes looking and i can't find the story anymore, but the general they sent to give a press conference is called Dempsey or something like that, maybe you can find it with the google machine.
Obama now flatout refuses to meet with Netanyahu, which is reasonably unprecedented as well:
http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/09/ ... 0B20120911
In a highly unusual rebuff to a close ally, the White House said on Tuesday that President Barack Obama would not meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a U.S. visit later this month, as tensions escalated over how to deal with Iran's nuclear program.
This stuff is not getting a lot of media attention yet, but if i'm not mistaken it signals a whole new Israeli-US relationship... interesting.
