Homosexuals' brains react to male hormones/pheromones

In the Swedish study, when sniffing a chemical from testosterone, the male hormone, portions of the brains involved in sexual activity were activated in gay men and straight women, but not in straight men, the researchers found.
When they sniffed smells like cedar or lavender, all of the subjects brains reacted only in the olfactory regions that handles smells.
The result clearly shows a biological involvement in sexual orientation, said Sandra Witelson, an expert on brain anatomy and sexual orientation at the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada.
Could this finally, arguably be considered proof that homosexuality is a natural, biological phenomenon?

The generally accepted theory, same as for most psychological traits, is that it's both environmental and biological.

I've always thought that seems anti-intuitive. But I guess if environment can affect things like seratonin release levels to certain stimuli, it makes sense.

That's really cool. It may also be a way to determine if someone's sexual orientation (whether straight or gay) is because of a genetic predisposition or because of choice, which could be a good diagnostic for psychological problems that are manifesting in terms of sexuality.

Well my guess would be that if "choice" is involved at all (and you're not forcing yourself to live a lie and/or engage in unpleasurable sex), yer talking bisexuality, not straight ahead 'gayness' per se.
It is important to distinguish behaviors from preference, methinks.

There's this part of the brain that is different sizes in men and women, larger in men. I have fuckall clue what it is called, but did you know that the size of this thing is different in gender dysphoric people (i.e. men who feel like they're women inside)? At least that's what I read.

It's just a smell. It might turn on straight chicks and gay guys, but that's not conclusive of anything. It just means this smell turns them on.
