If you pay with a credit card and you end up punching a bouncer and quickly running to the front to grab it, will the restaurant or bar know your full name and charge you for theft? Or will it automatically be charged every time you use it and by grabbing it you only not paid the tips?

I meant credit card. Bybthe way this is a hypothetical situation I almost got in last weaken. Two high class bytches at a fancy restaurantstole my seat and I had a beer there while I used the restroom. I was like a split hair from grabbing them an throwing them to the floor or off my seat and in the same restaurant a bar tender who was this fat black guy kept telling me to move and trying to order me around. One of these situations almost ended with me hitting him but my card was at the front. Let's say I did hit him and saw him rounding up his buddies and quickly ran to the front to grab it. Wool they have known my name?

I want to know next time I go there so I don't feel punked or that I have to back down again.

as soon as you give them your card they keep it, but they swipe it on the tab so they know that you can pay.

so yeah they got your info, and even if you run and get it (never happened) they'll still charge you and close the account, and probably with a few extra drinks on it.

Holding onto your card is to discourage people from walking out without closing their tab and signing the slip, tho if it happens I guarantee they close the tab anyway.

Cancel your card or report it stolen/lost. Problem solved. The charge would sit at "pending" for a few hours anyhow.

Personally I report it lost/stolen.
Problem is that for the re offender (read those violent types out there) this would only work a couple of times before they (the banks) get wise

But wouldnt they check the cameras and see the person doing the purchase at the restaurants or services it was used at after he reported it missing? Plus, the signatures would be there on the receipts and the bar tenders would be able to identify the person if their picture was on the card. Also, wouldnt the bank ask them when and how exactly it was stolen and why it took so long for the person to report it?
