how the hell do i disable the childlock?

push the disable childlock button.

there isn't one. i'm guessing it needs a certain key combo pressing, i got it from a second hand shop so i dont have the instructions.

my model (GX930) wasn't on the site

it probably is a key combo. you might be able to tell how many digits from the menu. try all the single digit ones, if that doesn't work. take the top off and look for a battery on the pcb - remove/disable it for a few minutes and see if the vcr forgets the combination.

Connecting your VCR to a
TV using a SCART lead
We recommend connecting your VCR to your TV using a SCART lead AND a normal aerial lead.
If you connect using a SCART lead you will find it easier to set-up your VCR, you will also benefit from
improved picture quality playback from your VCR. We recommend all connections must be made with
both your VCR and TV unplugged from the mains supply.

battery cover.
Attach the
battery cover.
NOTE: If your TV has
more than one SCART
socket please refer to your
TV’s Instruction Book for
information about which
SCART socket to use.

Connecting your VCR to a
TV using just an aerial lead
This page shows the most basic way to connect your VCR to your TV if you do not have a SCART lead
or SCART socket on your TV. We recommend you connect your VCR to your TV using a SCART lead (see
the previous page). We recommend all connections must be made with both your VCR and TV
unplugged from the mains supply.
Insert two AAA / R03 / UM-4 size
batteries into the battery compartment.
Make sure they are inserted the correct
way round.

This Quick Start Guide will help you correctly

Please read before installation
If this VCR has been moved from a cold place to a warm place, DO NOT plug it in for 2-3 hours
(e.g. from a cold car boot to a warm room).
There is a possibility that moisture may have condensed on the head drum of this VCR, this can cause damage to your VCR or any
tapes played on it. To avoid damage please unpack your VCR and allow it to stand at room temperature for 2-3 hours before use.
This will help any moisture evaporated and prevent unnecessary damage to your VCR.

Press i/MENU to remove the on

If you connected your VCR to your
TV with a SCART and aerial lead,
select the AV (or AUX) channel on
your TV when you want to view
your VCR. Some TVs will
automatically switch to display your
VCR when you switch it on and go
back to a normal TV channel when
the VCR is switched off.
If you connected your VCR to your
TV using just an aerial, select the
channel you chose as your VCR
channel on your TV when you want
to view your VCR.
Select this TV channel every time
you wish to use your VCR.
Setting the Correct Time and Date
You must set the correct time and date on your VCR before you make any VIDEO Plus+ system or timer recordings.

Plug your VCR into a
mains socket
Make sure you have fully installed
your VCR (see the other side of this
guide) and that an aerial lead is
connected from your household
aerial or cable box (if you
subscribe to a cable service).
Plug your VCR into a mains socket.
Press the POWER button on the
remote control to turn on the VCR.
If you connected
your VCR to your
TV with a SCART
and aerial lead...
Turn on your TV and set the TV to
the channel called AV or AUX.
When you turn the VCR on for the
first time after unpacking the VCR,
the ACMS screen will appear.
If you connected
your VCR to your
TV using just an
aerial lead...
Turn on your TV and select an
unused channel position on your TV
to use as your VCR channel (for
watching your VCR).
Tune in the channel you have
selected on your TV until the blue
screen appears clearly on your TV.
Consult your TV’s Instruction Book
for details about tuning your TV.
When you turn the VCR on for the
first time after unpacking the VCR,
the ACMS screen will appear.

Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for your enquiry regarding the HVGX930.

If you enter the PIN code incorrectly 3 times, then the unit will "lock" up.
Once the unit is in this position, you are able to unlock it using the
following method:

1.) Make sure the unit has power to it, but is turned off.

2.) Press and hold the "Channel Down" button on the unit itself.

3.) Then simultaneously press and hold the button number "7" on the remote
control for a minimum of 5 seconds.

This should then unlock the unit, and you will have control of the VCR
again.

In the future, try and use "0000" as the PIN code as this is the factory
default.

ohh fuck that childlock shite, you just reminded me of the time I got this open box magnavox for 40% of the actual price, the only thing was that it came without a remote control. It was working fine when I braught it home , but as soon as I connected it I deemed nessecary to fuck with the settings from what I could do with the buttons on the tv itself, well short story long, I enabled the fuckmeuptheasslock and could never get it off. to make it even more interesting, I couldn't find any information on the feature, I called the company and they knew less than me on the subject (is there something wrong with ths?). universal remote controls just wouldn't cut it, not to add that the cursed model was nowhere to be found around the stores and the original remote was almost worth as much as the open box price., I said fuck it returned it and got my money back.

vcr? isnt that one of those devices that plkay those.. uh.. "tapes" whas it?
those plastic cases with some rope in it?
