yeah, you're right, because listening to someone as much into cars as Amidy and who actually plays games too (although part-time) is reason to dismiss his opinion on this game, even so he's not a full time gamer (he's part-time), like yourself, but a gamer that doesn't play all the time (ala part-time).

well they are marketing it as a Simulation Game ( same as GT4 ), and to be honist.. i drove all the cars that im all to fimular with, and the handeling felt like an arcade, there was little to no slipping, Drifting, whiplashing, anything..

i was driving the R34, took a straght away and startd shifting the weight of the car to the front passengerside ( Right hand drive remember ) And taped the E-break a little. then Jamed on the gas in a Downshift.. steer in and wait for the car's ass end to slide..

yea, nothing.. the car went straight. wow..

this is one of the meny things that pissed me off about project gotham.

to me, this is the same delieo except you can "tune" the car Vs leaving it basically Stock. big fucking deal.

well, im a big dreamcast fan, so i'm used to it.. the only thing that i like is the posistion of the triggers, and the Sensitivity.. its nice to only apply a sertan amount of breaking and or gas when you are driving :)

Except that Project Gotham 2 was fantastic. I'd rather play a more 'arcade style' driving game than a more pure sim like GT4 anyhow.

see, but that is what needs to be said to part the two, rather then putting them up head to head.. if you like arcade style driving games, then Gotham and Forza are your golden ticket.. if you are a sim guy ( like me.. ) the Torismo Series are the ONLY WAY TO GO ( at the moment )

i applaud the game for what it has to offer, and the quality that the seemless menu's and etc have to offer, i never once said it was a Crapply Made game... but the Genre is all wrong, it should be an Arcade Driving game, not a Driving Sim.

if they set out to kill GT4, IMO, they have allready lost.

It's worth it, IMHO. If you loved PGR2, you will like this one - it has a lot more customization options with the cars, a lot more tuning. It's a nice hybrid between the sim aspect of GT4 and the arcade feel of PGR2...some replay options too.

I've been playing it for about 2 hours now. Really enjoying it. Still learning the details, but the courses are fun. Plus, you have a lot of cool cars available for arcade mode racing right off the bat. You can do quite a bit of customization to your cars appearance (for a console game), and the way they've set up the tuning is nice. You can benchmark your car after you tune it to see simulated data, or test drive it right away, and then change the tuning during the test run...

With the difficulty stuff - you can modify the difficulty setting before any race. The harder you make it, the more credits you get if you win. So, if you turn off the 'best line' option, you will get an additional 15% if you win. You can set the damage as purely cosmetic, simulation, or somewhere in the middle...again, each changes the winnings.

Haven't played any online yet.

The only real complaint I have is the sound. Even with my Dolby Digital and the whole surround setup. the engine sounds just lack a real deep 'real' sound to me....

Did you have all the TCS and other shit turned off?

Thing is, all the shit you complain about there I don't even look for in a racing game. I want fast cornering, powerslides, and aggressive racing.

I noticed differences in slipping, grip, whatever, after playing with the car's tire pressures.

But it definitely doesn't have the completely 'real' feeling of GT4 - in GT4 I really noticed what I can only describe as the 'weight' of the car...its inertia, etc., all felt very real as I drove around. Almost too real at times, to the point where I thought they overdid the inability of a car to take a corner fast.

Bottom line is it's all a matter of taste. I don't have enough hours in the week to deal with the plodding pace of GT4. This game gives more instant gratification, understandbly at the expense of complete driving realism.

I think I might check this out as it got amazing reviews all around: http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/920720.asp

I like these games much more than games Gran Turismo. I find those boring.
