Why only seven. At one point it was the 'Seven Wonders' becuase there were only seven. Why can't it be the 99 or 101? Or 42?

because the concept "the 7 wonders of the world" is something from the old world. so rather than changing the concept, 'we' make a new one - the 7 wonders of the modern age.

To have your vote counted, you need a personal code - but it's really easy!
All you need to do is call or SMS the following numbers to receive your 6-digit code.
The code is valid for one use only, and you must enter it into the computer within ONE HOUR of receiving it. After that time it will not work and you would need to call again.
kthxbye

Wonders don't have to be man made - the Grand Canyon wasn't.

...the seven ancient wonders were all manmade. Seems to me like that should be a criterium for the new ones as well.

I thought the Grand Canyon was one of the 7 wonders?

Nope:
Pyramids
Hanging gardens of babylon
Temple of artemis
statue of zeus
lighthouse of pharos

the colossus

the Wonders were man-made, sir.
if you add geological phenomena to the equasion, none of the manmade wonders would prolly be in the list

Oh you're talking about different wonders. Which is weird.
When I was young and learned about the 7 wonders of the world, they included the Grand Canyon and Mount Rushmore, along with the Pyramids and Hanging Gardens. Are these just America's own version of the 7 wonders or something? Strange.

It included the Pyramids and Gardens too, but thanks for the pointing out those other, far away fantasy lands for me.
