is this at all posable?

i'm currently making a HTPC box that i want to do everything. and i would like to just have the HTPC hooked up to the TV through the DVI rather then S-video.. But if it does not have a VGA/DVI input, would using a VGA -> Component ( Red Green Blue ) into the Tv produce a picture over 640X480?

so the resolution is dependant on the Hi-def mode that the Monitor supports?

so im guessing 1080I would be 1920x1080, how would you force windows to display at resolution's?? its not like the TV is going to send signal's back through the PNP Protocall.

You're making this too complicated.

Maybe it would help if you tried more than 1 word posts?

His first question only required a 1 word answer. And like I said in my second post, he's trying to complicate things for himself.

Do you really think that your TV is capable of displaying an image at 1920x1080?

Well if you can look up the rest of this stuff, how come you can't find the answers you're looking for?

as far as im reading, no ones really done This.. this is why i asked here.. there are a few people that would know the crossover of Raw Component feeds could convert/be used on a high def feed..

anyway, i think i found the tv that im going to get.. and it sports a DVI port.

Thanks for your help Dark metal.

P.S. Just because it "sports" a DVI port doesn't mean you can plug your computer in. DVI plugs aren't standard, there's a couple of different configurations.

P.P.S. I didn't do anything to help you.

In addition to being used as the new computer interface,
DVI is also coming out as the digital transfer method of choice
for HDTV, EDTV, Plasma Display, and other ultra-high-end video
displays for TV, movies, and DVDs. Likewise, even a few of
the top-end DVD players are now featuring DVI outputs in addition
to the high-quality analog Component Video. Don't expect to throw
away all your old video cables just yet, but keep an eye out for
DVI availability in the future.

I have a Panosonic 53" HDTV with a HDMI connector. Panosonic makes a HDMI to DVI cable that I ordered for $40. I'd like to see how this works, and if it even works at all with my PC.

Have to hurry up and wait for the connector to show up.

While we're on the subject...

My plasma finally comes in tomorrow, the native resolution is (853 X 480) I wanted to set my mediacenter ouput to that. Is htere a way to force windows to use an odd resolution like that? It supports all the other resolutions below, but the Video dudes at work suggested starting at it's native resolution so i am not scaling the images.

specs

That's some awesome do-it-yourself-help there, i think someone here has learned quite a lot about worthwhile things such as independant investigation and solo troubleshooting.

Essential survival mechanisms in todays technological jungle, where every man must be able to fend for himself in order to survive. I applaud you Dark Metal, if only large corporations would tell their callcenter people to use that same approach we would be heading in the right direction as a species, evolutionary speaking.
