Beta mjkq3adm6 "The Devils Nightmare"

Hello everyone. It's been awhile Since I have passed through here. I had to register under another name cause someone has already taken my name. :( But none the less it's all good.

Here's my 6th map and it's pretty much done as far as the layout is concerned. I still need to optimize it and alot of clipping. I left the clipping out at the moment due to the fact of feedback on how the player's react on certain jump point's and so forth. I really need help with Item and Weapon placement for smooth game flow. If there's and suggestions on anything I would greatly appreciate it. I was directed here for some extra help from one of my tester's. I haven't done this in awhile so I hope the DL link and stuff pan's out. If not let me know and I'll fix it. :) So please bare with me until I get use to this again. :cool:

Right now I have it just at FFA and Tourney. I did have some thoughts on maybe adding TDM but I feel its to small for that gametype.

Note that some I touched up on some lighting in some of the screen shots. I forgot to mention I have alot of detail in my map so my machine takes a real HUGE hit on frame rate.
If you have a low end machine like me just turn down some settings to compensate. :D

I don't really dig the gothic/satan theme but I gotta admit that the brushwork and texturing of this map is very cool.

Can't say much about gameplay atm, I only ran through it without really playing it.

The launchpads at YA could use a bit more power, sometimes I went back and forth. The RA area doesn't feel very interesting to me but with the current item placement no other spot makes sense for RA.

I know that the gothic evil Satan theme doesn't appeal to all but thank you for the compliment. :) on my brush/texture work.

Game flow is my nit pick now. I'm still making some minor construction changes without having to add a more than what I already have.

The RA placement is decent IMO but of course when it comes right down to it the players have the final word to me. I want people to have fun. The only place I believe that I can place it is in this screen shot below....

This area has been changed slightly since this screen shot was taken. I haven't took another shot yet. Not to much has changed but you get the picture. :)

The LP's to the YA I will tweak some to dissolve the short coming issue. Thank you for spotting that.Once again all feedback and suggestions are welcome. :up:

I personally miss the gothic/satanic themes. It's when it's mixed with sci-fi themes that I begin to dislike it.

Regardless, I dig the texture choice. Gothic isn't something people really go for anymore these days and I think it's a refreshing blast from the past.

Haven't played it so I can't give any opinions on layout. However, I have to ask, is this a forge that creates devils or a forge belonging to Satan? If it's the latter change the name to The Devil's Forge. Just a minor nitpick :P

First I do agree mixing is really touchy but scarcely I use them. I know the texture with the beam shooting up is commonly used texture for the BP effect. Yes an over abundance of mixing them is just plain ugly. :D

Secondly. I believe I would say its like Satan's forge for keeping souls of the damned to serve as his minions. Sounds pretty cool. Can't wait for some game play feedback. :D

Nice addition of the skull. But my concern with the map is that it's very open. For me it's perfect clan arena and ffa map. Not sure you will like to hear this :/.

Nope not at all hearing that it's material for TDM or Clan. With the openness I believe that I may be reaching a little far for it to be a Tourney map. Maybe with a couple of skillful players and the right item and weapon distribution it may turn out...or maybe not. :question:

If I try to implement a TDM I will need to rethink item and weapons for the layout. I wasn't thinking of that game type but it is a nice idea. Another game type other than just standard FFA/Tourney. Thanks a bunch.

What map is that screen shot from? The whole wing and skull came from inspiration of a song I've been listening to while im building my map. Avenged Sevenfolds new Nightmare song. I have been racking my brain on a decent center piece for my map. I saw the tattoo at the beginning of the video and thought to my self "Now that is a cool tat" and if I could bulid something of that nature It might look like a cool center piece.
