is there an agp slot on that board or is it just pci-e?

Just PCI-E & PCI.

Honestly, I hate the idea of SLI with current graphics cards, and currently the Venice cores are selling for about $20 extra. Hell, they were only $271 on the first day out, but now they're charging a premium.

It would be a good system though. Although, I'm not a fan of Thermaltake. I would go with either the Thermalright XP-90 or Arctic Cooling Freezer 64. I have the Pentium 4 version of the Freezer, and it's amazing, but the XP-90 can outperform it by a degree or two with a louder fan. The Freezer 64 is very quiet. It's really a toss-up.

Either way, don't get one of those HSF at Newegg, they charge more.

Freezer 64:

I'm sure either one is better than the Thermaltake. I've ordered from Directron and they're fine. Located on the east coast, so it took time to get to me (in California), but you're closer to them so it would probably only be like 4 days.

That's much better than imitating Geoff.

I was trying to find some reviews of the Silent Boost, but I'm not finding anything useful (ie. comparing it vs either stock cooling or one of the ones I mentioned). Seriously though, on the computer cooling forums I visit, nobody even considers the Silent Boost. Almost everybody (on air cooling) uses one of these three (in order of users as it seems:)

1. Thermalright XP-90 (or the XP-120 or XP-90C, but the XP-120 has mounting issues due to its size and the XP-90C is solid copper making it weigh over twice as much as the XP-90)
2. Zalman 7700-AlCu
3. Arctic Cooling Freezer 4

Oh yeah, and the reason I don't recommend the Zalman is because I had the 7000AlCu, and this Freezer 4 outperforms it by over 10 degrees celsius.

I don't really care about the coolness as I'm not an overclocker...I just wanted something quiet. And the Clawhammer is only $22 cheaper and isn't as good of a CPU.

Part of the reason I'm upgrading is so that I can give my mom my current system so that she has something fast and stable.

Well, I still think the Thermaltake is the worst.
The Freezer 64 is incredibly quiet. I don't hear it with my case closed. The fan cooling my RAM is the loudest one in my system, and it's really not bad (running at 7 volts).

If you get the XP-90, you can get a really quiet fan with it. But I would get at least the Freezer 64, it's only $2 more, almost certainly quieter and the CPU will run cooler. Plus, you can aim it towards the rear of the case to help exhaust the hot air, instead of blowing it around the system like the XP-90 or Silent Boost does.

I've seen a lot of reviewers extremely pleased with that board. What do you have against it, SOAP?

Its built by MSI..

As of late, everything ive been in contact with MSI has either crapped out, or ran extremely bad..

A while back i posted a thread when i got my brand spanking new 6800GT, i also bought a msi neo motherboard.. i was "happy'..
so i put said new mobo in, video card, bla bla bla.. and my 3d mark scores were LOWER than they were with my 9800pro.. i so shrug it off, and reintall windows..

like 12 formats later, poor performance is still there in every game but doom3.. yeah, 1 game runs right.. kinda right..

so i slap my Abit Ic7-G back in.. pow, performance is fucking flawless and i didnt even have to format.. tho i did format because im a picky asshole.

Last MSI board i owned, ended up dying for no reason, friends has ram slot issues and isnt exactly old.. my gf has a MSI board.. oddly its a refurb, and still works.. tho performance is dick....

MSI are great. I dont say this because I built *one* and had minor issues with it either. I've built hundreds of PCs and MSI is easily top 3 for quality and stability.

WoW has already rotted your brain.
Figured you would come in here and try to 1up me..
whatever tho, ive had nothing but bad experiance with MSI..

:icon19: ive built more machines than you have touched chump..

Its not the best performer but it hangs with the top boards. The N4 Ultra does appear to be a little better but the Ultra doesn't support SLI.

And either way its still going to own the fuck out of my Soyo KT600+ with an XP1800.

This is true..

GL with the board.. the chipset is good, no doubt, just watch the board for anything "weird"

God damn security features....

Bank of America wouldnt authorize the transaction even though I provided the card number, expiration, name, address, security code, social, mother's maiden name, birthday, and password! So now I have to wait for them to settle things by phone...
