It's all pretty crazy. I took these with my phone on Monday around noon. That's 2nd Ave -- the water continued to rise after that before it peaked.
edit: n/m, I don't have time to scour the internet for an image host that works with the forum here.

I tried imageshack before. I guess it didn't give me direct links because I uploaded both of them at the same time, so it just gave me a gallery.

Yea, I don't bother with the rule of thirds much on my cellphone cam.
Looks like the water is a little lower in his pic -- wonder if he got there before, or after me?

Monday (May 3 - same as him), around lunchtime. I work about 8 blocks from there, so I took a break and walked downtown.

AH HAH! If you were really there and took that picture, you would have said "I SWAM downtown"! We're wise to your shenanigans, Mr. Man.

pfft, I walked on the water to take my pics.
I only do it when the situation calls for it, of course.

It's probably going to take a while, but we'll handle it.
They're saying it may be the biggest non-hurricane related natural disaster in the country's history, but that seems a little exaggerated to me. Don't get me wrong, shit is seriously bad in some places here, and will cost a lot of money, both in repairs and lost revenue... But some of the quakes and wildfires in other parts of the country surely have been worse.
Still, I wouldn't be surprised if it were the biggest non-hurricane related flood since we've been keeping track.
Around here it's gone from being called a 100-year flood, to a 500-year flood, to a 1000-year flood.
The Cumberland River just finally dropped slightly below flood levels today. It stopped raining Sunday evening.

Hmmm... sounds unlikely.
I did a quick google and found a $1.5b damage estimate.
I'm pretty sure the Iowa flooding topped $2b, and Fargo has had multiple $3-4b+ floods.
And then of course, there was
this big one.
